A Week of Hashtags for a Week of Mother’s Day Salon Suite Marketing Ideas

THOUGHT PROCESS
Mother’s Day isn’t a new thing. It comes around every year and consumers start to tune out when it comes to marketing they feel like they’ve “seen” before.

ACTION STEPS
Get creative! Use hashtags to increase reach and get the attention of target audiences to breath new life into your Mother’s Day salon suite marketing campaigns.

Why Hashtags?

A lot of people use hashtags without understanding what they are – and aren’t. Many people think of them as nothing more than a fun way to use language to make a point in their social media post. Used the right way, hashtags can actually extend the reach and shelf life of your social media updates.

When you hashtag an update, it’s like you put it in a file, and the name of the file is the same as the hashtag.  So if someone is looking for online content under that hashtag, all of those updates that have the hashtag can be found again and again. Here’s an illustration.

You write a tweet for Mother’s Day and include the hashtag #2018MothersDay in your update. Now, anyone on Twitter that clicks on the link #2018MothersDay or searches on the hashtag in Twitter will see results with all of the updates that use the same hashtag. Make sense?

In addition to Twitter, hashtags are also searchable in Google search and on other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Putting the # (pound) sign in front of any word (or a string of words with no spaces in between) turns that word into a hyperlink. That hyperlink can then be clicked on or searched for, and all of the content “filed” under that hashtag will be displayed.

With that in mind, here are hashtags for every day of the week that can provide you with a week’s worth of Mother’s Day salon suite marketing updates.

Bonus points if you first post a photo of yourself with your mom (or child) to get the ball rolling.

#MemeMonday
