Denise East is our featured #SuiteElite Founding Member this month from MY SALON Suite of West University in Houston, Texas. Denise was born and raised in Houston and is now currently raising her two sons Caden and Carter and one more on the way very soon. In college, Denise played basketball and volleyball and was always the team hairstylist. Although she majored in journalism, she fell in love with the beauty industry and went to the Paul Mitchell School shortly after college. After working in a commission-based salon for a year, she made the switch to MY SALON Suite and hasn’t looked back. “The Suite Elite allows me to be on my own and be in my own space. They also help promote me and my business.”
When asked how joining the Suite Elite has changed her life, Denise explained that she is “way busier and making more money than ever before.” She went on to say that she loves being able to have that family/work life balance. ““What inspired me to go into business for myself was my beautiful children… They inspire me and I want to inspire them so they can one day be their own boss.”
Denise’s income changed “dramatically” working for herself. “I’m able to promote myself more. People appreciate my personality and the way that I work and it doesn’t get overshadowed by a big salon.” Denise went on to explain how much she loved the setting at MY SALON Suite. “We are like a family. We all help each other out and promote each other. I take advantage of that for sure. The environment is so welcoming and supportive. Aaron (the franchise owner) really cares for us and wants us all to succeed. He gives us whatever we want to utilize like a conference room so that we can have classes and benefit ourselves without pressure or micromanagement. He is a great owner and an all around guy and is always a text or phone call away.”
How does Denise have FUN at work? “I’m the goofy one!. Everyone comes to my suite if they need a video, I always snapchat. I just have fun and be myself. I love to have fun with clients and kids and make sure they’re comfortable.”
So what advice would Denise give someone thinking of joining the Suite Elite? “Just do it! I think sometimes we let our nerves get in the way of our true potential. I believe without fear, you can’t overcome anything. You need that one piece of fear to take over the world! This has been a life-changing experience for me. I feel really accomplished and this is only the beginning. I see good things happening.”
