9 Special Days – and Ways – to Promote your Salon Suite During the Holiday Season

Time your Salon Suite’s holiday promotions so they coincide with what local shoppers are thinking about and doing during the holidays.

THOUGHT PROCESS:
Understanding the consumer’s mindset and holiday shopping activities they are likely to engage in can power your Salon Suite marketing and help you book clients and grow sales.

ACTION STEPS:
Plan special email and social media updates to correspond with consumers’ holiday shopping schedules.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – and it could be even more wonderful, if you successfully engage holiday shoppers and get your Salon Suite’s gift certificates and retail products onto their holiday shopping lists. Black Friday and Small Business Saturday aren’t the only special shopping days when you can get the attention of your target audience; there are actually nine special shopping days which you can use to reach out and engage clients and prospects.
9 Ways to Engage Salon Suite Clients between Thanksgiving and New Year’s

1. Gray Thursday (U.S. Thanksgiving Day)
This is a great day to send a Thanksgiving Day email to your clients to let them know you’re thankful for their patronage. Lead with a large graphic that says “Thank you,” and follow this any announcements you have for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday offers.

2. Black Friday (the day after (U.S.) Thanksgiving Day)
Black Friday shoppers are looking for serious deals. If you are going to use a deep discount to attract new clients or generate referrals, do like the big retailers do and create urgency by extending only a limited number, ensuring that interested parties will respond quickly.

3. Small Business Saturday  (the Saturday after Thanksgiving Day)
Remind your clients that your Suite is the perfect small business where they can purchase gift certificates for hard to please colleagues, friends or loved ones.

4. Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving Day)
Known as a day when holiday shoppers are likely to be most active online from work, home, or wherever their day might take them, Cyber Monday is a great day for you to send your client base an email reminder to book an appointment on the day of their company, family, neighborhood or some other holiday party.

5.  Giving Tuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving Day)
This is a great opportunity for you to use social media and email to remind clients about any holiday give-back promotions or activities you are participating in over the holidays (such as a giving tree or coat drive) or to let them know about give-back activities your salon suite contributed to during the year. Examples include charitable giving, auction donations, donating supplies or appointment time to local charities, and so on.

6. Green Monday (the second Monday of December)
Green Monday is traditionally the busiest shopping day in December. This could be a good day to extend a 1-day only special offer to your most important clients as both a thank you and a sales-builder.

7. Free Shipping Day (December 18, one week before Christmas Day)
This is usually the last day that merchants offer free shipping which is guaranteed to arrive by Christmas. Pick up a supply of holiday greeting cards at the beginning of the season and let clients, email and social media followers know that you would be happy to mail a gift certificate along with greeting card to anyone on their gift list!

8. Super Saturday (the Saturday before Christmas Day)
The Saturday before Christmas Day is often the last chance people have to finish up their holiday shopping, purchase stocking stuffers, and hold holiday events. If you have enlarged your retail during the holidays with items perfect for stocking stuffers, gifts for co-workers, or as hostess gifts, this is a great opportunity to remind them to stop by and pick some up.

9. Gift Card Exchange Day (the day after Christmas Day)
The busiest shopping day of the year, the day after Christmas is a day to return unwanted gifts and redeem gift cards. For you, this could be a good day for a one-day sale to clear out remaining holiday stock or extend a special offer on gift certificates, such as a buy-one, get-one or gift-with-purchase promotion.

These are great ways to say on your client’s radar during the busy holiday season when their attention is pulled in many different directions. Keeping your Salon Suite on their mind can mean more appointments booked, retail products sold, and new clients referred during the holidays.
