Dakota Sullivan, of Paradise Valley in Scottsdale, has been named a Suite Elite Featured Member by MY SALON Suite, a co-working style space where salon professionals provide
beauty services to their clients in private, fully equipped, custom suites. Sullivan is one of 11 beauty salon owners from across the nation chosen for this year’s Suite Elite Featured
Member program. In June of 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Sullivan made the transition from working at a large salon to opening her own hair and lash salon within MY SALON Suite. In this dedicated space, she was able to safely provide services for her clients and is continuing to grow particularly during the busy wedding season. “This opportunity has been hugely impactful to my life,” said Sullivan. “Not only am I able to be my own boss, but I’m growing my business while I’m young. From the time I opened at MY SALON Suite, my clientele has steadily increased and I feel a greater amount of freedom to make decisions that will set me up for a successful future.”

After Dakota’s suite upgrade, we sat down with her to hear about what it has done for her business.
- Tell us about the entire process and what you loved about it?
“What I loved the most is that it has made me take a step back and focus on my business, building up my social media, building different relationships, working on my business marketing and connecting with other Featured Members.”
- What are your favorite parts about your suite now?
“I love my chandelier! The lighting has changed my entire suite. It is so much brighter. I also love my new shelves. I love that I can display my retail and be able to stock everything I need. I love that my clients can see them perfectly. I can have it all there.”
- What have your clients said?
“My clients love it! The space is more open and the cabinet is moved they like that they can put their feet out when I am washing their hair and give them a better experience. Everyone comments on my chandelier and open space. No one noticed my letters for my business name before in the old spot. They love it and see it displayed right at the door.”
- How has it made you feel more creative in your space? How has it helped you with your craft?
“Having my suite be less cluttered has helped me focus and take my time to do consultations with clients. I use to feel like I had to organize everything while I was talking with them. Now I can just focus on them. I know exactly where everything is and focus on them more. With the better lighting, I can be more creative and get different ideas and be more creative for my clients as well.”
- What does it mean to be a Suite Elite Featured Member?
“It means so much to represent MY SALON Suite. Zach and Phil (Franchise owners for MY SALON Suite of Scottsdale) are the best and helped me build my business. Being in this community is really nice because everyone is so supportive. Even though we are in our own suites, everyone is still so supportive and involved. I feel like part of a community and I love that.”
