Picture with wording saying How to Dominate on Google with your Salon Suite.

Last week, Chris Linford from Beauty as a Business led an Education Episode called How to Dominate on Google with a Salon Suite. This class walked our Members through how to get a lot of Google Reviews the right way, why an online reputation with Google is important to your bottom line, and how to maximize being found on Google to attract new clients and ultimately increase revenue in your business. Below are some of the topics and key takeaways from the class.

Good vs. Great Marketing:

Good marketing is talking about your business on social media. GREAT marketing is getting other people to talk about your business. Don’t wait for it to happen naturally. Sometimes, you need to get awkward. Ask your clients while they are sitting in the chair to leave a Google review or post about your business.

Get your clients to share their experience on their social media. Friends and family members of your clients will see that and that is who you want to get in front of. They are 4x more likely to book with you if they are a referral and they will spend 18% more dollars.

70- 20- 10 Formula

  • 70% of what you are posting and sharing should be providing some sort of value. Teaching your clients. If they are learning from you, they won’t be learning from competitors. They trust that you know more. Free value builds trust. Majority should be video video performs better on social media., pay attention to editing and audio. Providing free value is the best sales strategy.
  • 20% should be sharing other people’s helpful valuable information.
  • 10% of posts should be asking for business.

Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room. What are people saying about you? That is your brand.

Building your brand

How much of somebody’s mind is already made up before they call or inquire about any business? 70% What are you doing online to have an impact on that 70%? You need to build trust.

  • 82% of people say reviews have impacted their purchasing decisions
  • 84% of people trust customer reviews over expert reviews
  • 90% of customers review your business before visiting it
  • 72% of people trust online reviews as much as a personal recommendation from a friend or a family member.

Average new client retention in beauty industry: 25%

More expensive to get a new client than retain the clients you have.

How else to show up in Google?

  • Create a Google listing by going to Business.google.com.
  • Google reviews
  • Physical address in the city of search
  • Consistency of citations
  • On page SEO elements, living website, Blog
  • Local listing engagement- click through rate, booking appointments
  • Organic use behavior- CTR, bounce, time on site
  • Quality of inbound links to the domain

Key Points in getting Google reviews

  1. When you ask your client, ask them while they are with you.
  2. Do not leave a review while connected to wifi, everyone is leaving that from same IP address, Google thinks they are fake Google reviews
  3. Encourage the review to be descriptive, leave key words, your name
  4. Get your name in the review
  5. Don’t give your phone to guest to leave review because that review will be coming from same IP address

Negative Reviews:

  1. Quickly respond back and thank them for bringing to your attention you want clients satisfied
  2. Tell them you want to resolve issue offline
  3. Take care of that guest and ask them to update it
