Latoya Mincey, a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in styling and coloring hair locks at MY SALON Suite’s Westside Village location in Atlanta, Mincey first opened her suite, Mz. Lady Lox Unique Naturalz Salon,in the summer of 2020. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, she was planning to open in a much larger space but given the increased demand for privacy and comfort, she toured MY SALON Suite and knew right away it was the perfect fit for her. Since opening, she has achieved tremendous financial success and continues to be fully booked months in advance.
“This has truly become my home away from home where I can focus on my passion of providing my clients with the unique, natural styles they want in a professional and supportive environment,” said Mincey. “Owning my own business within MY SALON Suite has not only enabled me to double my salary but has also given me the flexibility to continue traveling to hair shows to share my skills with others.”
With more than 20 years of industry experience in addition to training at the Hogan Institute of Cosmetology and receiving her Natural Braiding license and instructional certification at SBC Braiding Academy in Virginia, Mincey, known in the industry as Mz. Lady Lox, devotes significant time outside her suite to attending national hair shows where she showcases her craft and mentors younger professionals. With her signature red locks, Mincey has been featured in several magazines and print ads and serves as a brand ambassador for leading haircare line Jamaican Mango & Lime.
When asked what her favorite parts of her suite upgrade are now, Latoya said, “I am so happy, it matches me now. The other suite did not match me.. This is me. I love the shelves.. I love the product display because before I was not advertising myself. Even though I had all these products, I didn’t have a display to put the products on. I love the vase in the corner. And I love this beautiful big picture of myself, of course!”
