Propelled Brands, the parent company of Suite Management Franchising (SMF), the franchisor of both MY SALON Suite and Salon Plaza, a salon suite franchise that focuses on providing hairstylists and beauty professionals a personal space to build their independent businesses and be their own boss, has named Stacy Eley brand president.

“It is a great honor to accept the brand president role,” said Stacy Eley. “I love franchising! I am passionate about the Suite Management Franchising network and the value we bring to our franchisees and our franchisees’ members. I look forward to further accelerating the growth and success of franchisees.”

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, we set a fundraising goal to raise $35,000 for the Suite Relief Fund™ that benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. G’Lux Salon & Keratin Bar is proving good things come in small packages.

Stylist Gigi Molinari changed her business model to fit the COVID pandemic.

“It was a gamble whether I close or I reinvent my business and this is where I am and that’s what I did,” she said.

People from all over New England travel to a spacious brick building in Newton’s village of Nonantum, where dozens of beauty businesses — many owned by people of color — opened in the summer of 2020, filling a gap in the salon scene and forming a community with loyal clients.

Valina Patton is a Licensed Cosmetologist and owner of Beauty By Valina, where she provides eyebrow, hair removal, and hair services, including extensions and custom wigs. Prior to opening her own business at MY SALON Suite in Niles, Ill. in 2020, Patton worked in the beauty field for 12 years, both at retail establishments, such as Nordstrom and Ulta, and offering hair and other services for weddings and special events on the side. She has been recognized as a MY SALON Suite 2021 Suite Elite Featured Member for her ongoing success and dedication to her clients.

Activity doesn’t equal growth. Make sure you’re not just busy but that your daily activities are contributing to your ultimate goals.

I believe in collaboration with others and making long-lasting connections with other people in the beauty industry. A lot of the time, stylists are afraid of this because they look at others as their competition before even getting to know them. My doors have opened to many opportunities throughout my career by just introducing myself and saying hello. Be open to different types of opportunities as well, as it could open the door to new business developments and long-lasting friendships in our industry!
