Make It Yours, Next Level with Josh Trotter

Josh Trotter, who specializes in hair services and balayage, had been managing a local salon when the owner of the MY SALON Suite location in Olympia reached out to him about opening his own salon. After 15 years spent mainly in corporate salon settings with many clients encouraging him to go out on his own, Trotter opened The Dream Hair Salon in July 2020.

“I feel so blessed and thankful for finding this opportunity through MY SALON Suite to invest in myself and my clients,” said Trotter. “The entire team made me feel empowered to rise to the challenge of opening my own business, ensuring me it would be a rewarding experience. In fact, I was recently able to move into a much larger suite and it is such a timely gift to receive these upgrades to my business as a Suite Elite Featured Member.”

Tell us about the entire process of being a Featured Member and what you loved about it? 

“Being a Featured Member has really inspired me to be better to do more to show up fiercely in the moment and in my suite. I really enjoyed the whole process as it stripped basically everything down to Ground Zero and really made you focus on every part of your business: who you are, what your brand is, how to organize and how to showcase the love that you have for your business and for your clients. I really loved the zoom call with the home edit gals. It was a lot of fun. They really helped us remove excess clutter and helped us with organization ideas but they made it fun and simple and easy. And then meeting with Eric the designer to go over really what your brand is and to create a specific or unique design that would embrace who you are and the story that you want to tell to your clients. And then to finish with the day of the upgrade with the team and the cameras and the fabulous ladies Eileen and Karen was just wonderful because I was able to to not just experience the gift of being a Featured Member but you really got to get down to the core of why you’re in business and what you believe you offer to your clients and you got to be thankful and a think a lot of times we forget or get too busy to be thankful and it was just a very humbling  and honoring moments of gratitude to be able to be blessed with such an honor or gift during the time of a pandemic.”

What are your favorite parts about your suite now?

“My favorite parts of my suite now are my custom shelves; they’re beautiful they’re wonderful they were custom made specifically for me and the suite they showcase everything I possibly could want to sell in the suite but they are just following the center of everything they make a statement as you walk into the room it’s the first thing that you notice and that’s exactly what I wanted I wanted peoples eyes to begin to wonder what they should use on their hair and with the ability to showcase all the wonderful product in the center of my sweets it really does just that.”

What have your clients said about your suite?

“My clients have really enjoyed my suite upgrade. They love the shelves; they always pick up on the beautiful chandelier and the rug. They love all the details, they love how organized it is.. I think the reaction that I get when a client visits for the first time is ‘ wow! This is so beautiful’,  just something that has been very unexpected to them.”

How has it made you feel more creative in your space? How has it helped you with your craft?

“I definitely feel more creative in my space since the takeover because it is organized and fits my personality. My clients love it so I don’t have to worry about what I need to change or adopt. I can really just spend all that time being creative and with my clients knowing that my clients love the space I’m very confident that my space really speaks to my brand.”

What does it mean to you to be a Suite Elite Featured Member?

“To be a Featured Member means to me to be an example for those to come, for those who are here that you can truly be an entrepreneur and that anything is possible. You can embrace a deeper value in yourselves each and every day because what we did to you in the art of being just a stylist or maybe it’s an aesthetician or a tattoo artist is to make people say and so being able to be a Featured Member just further embraces that ability to make people’s day. I love coming into my suite at MY SALON Suite and being helpful, doing anything that I can for the other entrepreneurs. I love having a chance to showcase also who I am and I love meeting so many different people but it really comes back to just being honored and thankful for being featured and I just love the opportunity that I have had in this gracious gift.”
