#TheSuiteElite Featured Member – Casey Washburn – Williamsville, NY

Our Suite Elite Featured Member is Casey Washburn from MY SALON Suite of Williamsville, NY. Casey has been in the hair industry for 20 years and she’s lived in a suburb of Buffalo, NY her entire life. After cutting her friends hair for years, her mom suggested she go into the hair industry. “I knew I would do great things in this industry.” After finishing cosmetology school, she assisted for a year, then worked in a salon. She then went off on her own and rented a chair in a salon for 18 years. After 18 years of booth renting and looking to own her own business, she joined MY SALON Suite as a Member. “In life, I have learned that you need to pay attention to signs. When I found the suites were opening, literally all the stars aligned… When something is meant to be, it truly is. Up to this point in my life, I had never had anything line up so perfectly, so I knew this was the right decision.”

Casey has been married for twelve years and has three children including a set of twins that keep her busy. To Casey, family comes first. She loves to travel with her family and make memories with them. Being a Suite Elite Member allows her the freedom to control her own schedule so she can do just that.

When asked what Casey loves most about being a Suite Elite Member, she explained, “I love that I own my own business. It’s something that I can be proud of and call my own. I love that it represents me and my style. With booth renting for so long, it was their business, their name, and their decor. I love that this is mine. And now with the current COVID situation, I love the feeling of being safe. I appreciated all of the guidance that we have received as a Member of MY SALON Suite… they [corporate team and location owner] really went above and beyond to help us get back in the swing of things safely and efficiently.”

How did Casey Make It Hers? “I literally looked through 2000 chairs to pull the room together.. I wanted it to be special and represent my style, so I searched until I found the perfect starter piece, then it all came together. It was so fun making the room what I wanted it to be. It represents MY style and personality. It’s a great way to represent yourself and your brand.”

For Casey, it’s so important to be proud of herself. “Owning my own business is a reflection of all of my hard work and I am so proud of that. It has given me pride of being a business owner and given me new friends that are like-minded and right there if I need them. It has allowed me to control my schedule and never miss a hockey game, or dance event for the girls… only positive things have come from owning my one suite!”

What piece of advice would Casey give to someone thinking of joining The Suite Elite? “Take the leap. Change is always scary, but it’s so important to challenge and believe in yourself! And stay organized! Ask fellow suite owners for advice because we are all in the same boat, and I love that I have them there for support. Utilize our special space with the current COVID situation- we are SO lucky to have a safe space for our clients to visit and use that to your advantage with taking the leap!” Great advice, Casey!
