AL MAYES
Is an Award winning licensed 3rd generation Master Barber. He received an associate degree in computer repair and robotics from The Cittone Institute, Edison, NJ in 1991. In May 1998 he received a Virginia Barber License and Virginia Barber Instructor License July 2012. Mayes worked as an educator with Iconic Barbers for 4 years traveling the country performing platform work and teaching haircutting at major hair industry events and beauty schools. Iconic Barbers is a company dedicated to the advancement of the barbering industry by promoting and fostering education, professionalism and supreme business acumen.

In March 2018, Mayes joined the Hampton Roads Professional Beauty Technician (HRPBT).While with HRPBT, my goal was to promote and engage the beauty industry through education and scientific methods. September 2018, Mayes was appointed by VA Governor Ralph Northam to serve as vice-chairman of the VA Board of Barbers and Cosmetology. Mayes served a 4 year term that expired June 30, 2022. In September 2021, he was nominated and currently serves as 3rd vice president for National Association of Barber Boards of American (NABBA). Mr Mayes is the recipient of the 2022 Taking You Back ToYour Roots Hampton Roads Barber of Excellence Award.

Al Mayes has been cutting hair for over a quarter century and still continues to attend Hair Shows and taking cutting classes from leading industry professionals so he may continue to provide his clients the best care and product knowledge.
